Venn diagrams: GCSE Maths revision
Venn diagrams show sets. The overlap is “and”. Everything in either circle is “or”. Outside both is neither.
Filling the diagram
Always put the intersection in first, then the rest of each set, then the outside. Frequencies must add to the total.

50 students, 30 play football, 20 tennis, 8 both. How many play neither?

- Putting the “both” number into each circle as well as the overlap (double counting).
